Traditionally, a church’s foundation is created on God’s word and its believers but when JP realizes that God’s words are not being upheld, things get a little scandalous.
Logline
Imagine a blend of Scandal and The Haves and Have Nots
The Church is a one-hour drama centered on John Paul (JP), a seasoned, devout Pastor who takes charge
when the pastors under his leadership begin to stray from their father's teachings and embrace some
questionable principles. As the first season progresses, JP discovers he is facing more formidable challenges than he
ever anticipated.
Format
● One-hour drama
● Basic four-act structure
● Ensemble cast with a strong lead, similar to most procedurals
● Suitable for all five major networks, but ideal for networks like TNT, Bravo, and BET
Tone
The Church will explore thematic and "taboo" subjects with a tasteful approach to maintain audience engagement.
Traditionally, a church is built on God's word and its believers, but when JP notices that these principles are being ignored,
things take a scandalous turn. The tone will be a gritty drama that reveals hidden truths for the greater good; however,
emphasizing the importance of repentance and forgiveness is crucial, as it's important to avoid portraying all churches and people of faith as unjust and corrupt. It should illustrate that even those in positions of power need assistance and that restoration can return things to their natural order.
