Over 15 years after R&B singer R. Kelly was charged with allegedly having sex with a minor, the singer has found himself in a whirlwind of controversy.
A 2017 Buzzfeed article interviews two parents who alleged that their daughter was involved in Kelly’s “sex cult”. Former co-workers of Kelly also came forward to say that Kelly controls the lives of six women. (Source: Buzzfeed)
Since these accusations have come to light multiple celebrities, including Lady
GaGa,and John Legend, have publicly spoken against Kelly. iTunes, and Spotify have also dropped multiple collaborations with the artist as well. (Source: People, and Spin.com)
In January 2019 a docu-series named “Surving R. Kelly” was released. The series
inteviewd multiple alleged victims of Kelly including his ex-wife Andrea Kelly.
The fallout since this series has been massive, and in mid February it was revealed that a new tape has surfaced with footage of Kelly performing sex acts on a minor.
An official told The New Yorker “The tape may lead to an indictment in Illinois”. (Source Hollywood Reporter)
